Commodore Meet and Greet

Thirty-Four Members, Guests and Volunteers gathered to greet our Commodore and meet someone new. In the words of Hook, They "made this show excellent."

Meet our Commodore:
Alicia Noble inherited a love for sailing and a Catalina 22 from her father. She and her sister joined PPYC in 2015. She was an excellent Basic Keelboat class participant. Alicia along with her sister and friends were weekly participants in the non-spinnaker fleet on Wednesday nights. They weren't always the fastest, but you could always tell they were having a ton of fun sailing and enjoying each other's company. Since COVID, she has been crewing on an S2 7.9 for races both at home and in distant ports.
She has been a true example of getting value out of her membership and giving back so others can do the same.

Alicia has always been a frequent volunteer. Whether polishing trophies on clean-up day or assisting for a social event. She leads by example. For the last several years she has leveraged her talent and professionalism to the club in leadership roles. Several years as the Club Secretary and most recently as Vice Commodore and Commodore.

Great to meet you Alicia, we are glad you are here!

A Special thanks to our volunteers:
Richard Lewis, Karen King, Mr. and Mrs. Torr, Jeremy Locklear, George Blue, Tasha Overton and our Head Cook Kevin Gallagher.

Now is the time to jump in!

Our first sailing event, the Force Five is one week away. Sign up now!

After signing up for that, plan on joining us for the Wednesday Night Race Kickoff on Saturday March 30th at 2:00. Some of us regulars will be there, and we would love to meet skippers and crew that want to put Wednesday Night Racing fun onto their calendar in 2024. Just do it, you can thank me later.

Our clean-up day is almost here. We need a big showing of PPYC pride for our lakefront and clubhouse. We are privileged to have both, and this is just a small way that each of us can roll up our sleeves for a few hours and give back. So, please sign up for the Marina Clean Up Day on April 6th.

Wednesday Night Racing and LATH will be here before you know it. Signups are open:

Let's Go Sailing

Join us for the Force Five Regatta

Saturday, March 23
(In case of inclement weather, the makeup date is the 24th.)

This is your year!

Start a Wednesday Night Race tradition.

On March 30th, from 2 to 4:00 hear what Wednesday Night Racing is about and how to get started. We would love to see some additional boat owners join us. It took a little encouragement for most of us to get started. But once we did, we found it worthwhile to carve out time in the middle of the week to prioritize this rewarding activity.

This is also for those of you who like to crew and strategize. You are vital to Wednesday Night Racing too. No experience necessary, just an eagerness to learn and continually improve.

Membership Cards

PPYC membership cards have gone electronic! Now you can load them to your phone with your other electronic cards. If you are old school like me, you can print them off and tuck them into your wallet. Or, sign into the website and just admire it any time you are land bound and longing for a sail.
If you travel, your card will get you in the door at many sailing clubs. At the very least, use it as a conversation starter to get a crew position while you are visiting some far away sailing venue.

To get your membership card:

1.      Log onto the PPYC Home page

2.      After you log in, click your name in the top right corner of the website. Then select "Profile".

3.      In the Membership Summary section of your profile, select either "JPG" or "PDF" after “Download Membership Card”.

4.   Admire!
