Benefits Percy Priest Yacht Club Members Enjoy

Support the sport of sailing. One of the main purposes of PPYC as stated in our constitution is “to promote the sport of sailing in all forms.” As a PPYC member you will help promote the sport and enhance your personal sailing knowledge, boat handling skills and safety on the water.

Associate with other sailors. Share your interests and your love of sailing. PPYC was formed to foster a spirit of good fellowship among sailors. The club is run by volunteer members and every member is expected to volunteer some of their time. You will have opportunities to contribute some of your talents and time and to get involved with club activities. No experience is required.

Learn to sail. PPYC sponsors a Learning at the Helm (LATH) group that meets every Tuesday evening, April through September. LATH is for anyone 18 and older who can swim and who wants to learn more about sailing. You don't have to own a boat to participate. PPYC also offers its members a Basic Sailing Course, which is an introduction to sailing in a brief, practical, step-by-step course.

Race on Percy Priest Lake. PPYC sponsors club races and regattas throughout the year. No matter what your level of experience, you will find races that interest you. These include informal Wednesday night pursuit races, weekend club races and major regattas such as the Force Five, Oktoberfest/Catalina Cup and Equalizer. We also have one-day fun regattas including the Grand Ole Open, Fall Off and Kamikaze. Don’t own or have access to a sailboat? Own or have access to a sailboat but need Crew so you can participate in a race? You’ll find what you need through our Skipper/Crew Matchups capability.

Cruise on Percy Priest Lake. We have Cruiser oriented races that will take you to various parts of the lake. We also encourage cruising with other members and organized cruising events.

Attend social activities. Our club holds several social events and fun activities throughout the year, both on and off the water. These include cookouts, parties and fun sails.

Get reciprocal privileges at other yacht clubs. Many yacht clubs (including those in coastal areas and on the Great Lakes) allow guests that are members of other yacht clubs to use their facilities. Because PPYC is a recognized yacht club, our active members will be allowed access to many of these clubs. PPYC is a member of US Sailing and Yachting Club of America. We are also listed in the Register of American Yacht Clubs.

Get discounts with other sailing and boating organizations. If you joining US Sailing through the MVP Program with PPYC, you can receive a discount on your US Sailing dues. Discounts with other organizations may also be available.

Our dues, which you can see at PPYC Fees, are very reasonable and our members are very friendly. We welcome all who want to learn about sailing, cruise or race, and share some good times both on and off the water. We invite

New members join as a Provisional Member for the first 12 months. After 12 months, a Provisional Member may apply to become a Full Member.
