Announcing Rookie of the Year Award

Perhaps more appropriately, "Rookies of the Years".

In our annual membership meeting we announced "Rookie of the Year" as a new perpetual award.

The Rookie of the Year award goes to a member who joined within the last 2 years and best exemplifies the values of Percy Priest Yacht Club. These award recipients found their way to involvement in multiple activities. They developed their sailing chops and, in some cases, mentored other sailors.  They supported our club through volunteerism in a variety of areas. Some took on leadership roles. Their enthusiasm for PPYC and sailing is like a tractor beam. So, this is an opportunity to honor those stand-out individuals and at the same time celebrate those things that make being a member so awesome.

We went back to 2020 for our first recipients. Here are our inaugural winners. Congratulate them the next time you see them.
  1. Joe Campbell - 2020
  2. Reggie Tullos - 2021
  3. Chris Dupont &Michaela Bland - 2022
  4. Jeremy Locklear - 2023
Click on this to read a little about each recipient in their own words. I think you will find it inspirational! The next time you are in the clubhouse, check out the perpetual trophy that has been added to our trophy shelf. There is a plate with their names on it and room for future recipients.

Here is your chance to sail a Laser!

Harbor Island Yacht Club Laser Frostbite is here!  And they have invited Percy Priest Yacht Club members to join in the fun!

No, not a laser pointer. These are amazing single person sailboats. You don't have a Laser? Don't let that discourage you. They have some loaner boats that they are eager to share.

I'm excited for the 2024 edition of HIYC Laser Frostbite Series to commence! We have new boats, new faces and the same old heck of a good time on the water lined up for this year.

See you on the water,

-Cody Hall

News Flash

PPYC membership cards have gone electronic! Now you can load them to your phone with your other electronic cards. If you are old school like me, you can print them off and tuck them into your wallet. Or, sign into the website and just admire it any time you are land bound and longing for a sail.
If you travel, your card will get you in the door at many sailing clubs. At the very least, use it as a conversation starter to get a crew position while you are visiting some far away sailing venue.

To get your membership card:

1.      Log onto the PPYC Home page

2.      After you log in, click your name in the top right corner of the website. Then select "Profile".

3.      In the Membership Summary section of your profile, select either "JPG" or "PDF" after “Download Membership Card”.

4.   Admire!
