A member informed us about a suspicious email he received today that appeared to be from Galen Freeman. He called Galen to ask about it. He was unaware of it and has since learned that he’s been hacked. Galen said he does not want any of his friends to be taken in by this. We are sending this email at his request.
In the case brought to our attention, an initial email (appearing to be from Galen) was sent simply asking if you have an Amazon account. If you respond with Yes, the email with the request follows. Please ignore any email appearing to be from Galen that is asking you for anything similar to the following, which is the text of the email forwarded to us by a member:
I've been trying to purchase a SEPHORA E-Gift card of $200 by email, but it says they are having issues charging my card. I contacted my bank and they told me it would take a couple of days to get it sorted. I intend to buy it for a friend of mine who's having his birthday today. Can you purchase it from your end for me, I 'll refund it to you once my bank sorts the issue out. Let me know so i can send you her email.
