2023 - S2 7.9 CCR (Class Championship Regatta)

S2 7.9 CCR (Class Championship Regatta) Racine Wisconsin

Sept 15,16,17 2023

Regatta Season is here. We kicked the season off with our 2023 CCR (Class Championship Regatta)

Racine is approx. 45 minutes South of Milwaukee WI. right on Lake Michigan. An old town with a lot of charm, neat old cottage homes and a neighborhood bar on every corner.

This is my second time racing in Racine. The weather is always sporty at least one day and flat water to the locals is 2-3 ft swells. The wind stayed pretty steady at 10-12 knots with gusts 15-17. We raced 7 races over Friday and Saturday. RC abandoned all races on Sunday due to a Nor’easter blowing 22 knots plus with larger waves.

Nashville was represented by two S2 7.9. Scratch and Scalded Dawg. The competition was tough. 4 professional boats (one of which is an Olympian) and a total of 20 S2 7.9 on the course. The experience of racing on different waters and with professionals increases your skill level exponentially each time you go. Being able to ask pros how they handled situations, and review techniques with them is invaluable. I highly recommend travel racing any chance you get.

Truly,
