Sunday Racing Series
The PPYC Sunday Racing Series will be Sundays, June through September. The series will offer both buoy and distance races. Participants meet on deck at 1:30 for a short meeting to prepare for the start.
Volunteers are needed each week to help with race committee. All race participants are expected to volunteer at least once during the series. Other PPYC members are also expected to help with race committee. Please volunteer on the PPYC website (log in first, then click Volunteer/Volunteering).
Buoy Races:
Any one-design fleets that have two or more boats at the start line can run in the buoy races.
Buoy races will be short windward-leeward courses that use a race committee and inflatable marks.
Distance Races:
Distance races will be pursuit races similar to our Wednesday Night races. The distance course will be either the D Course or the Wednesday Night Course, depending on the wind. When the committee boat is used for a start line, the distance races will use the committee boat start line for a windward start and round the weather mark to port before sailing their course. Otherwise, distance races will start at the same no-wake markers we use for Wednesday Night races.
Starting times are here: D Course Starting Times, WN Course Starting Times.
Course descriptions and diagrams are here: Sunday Race Series Courses D and Wednesday Night.
Crewing Opportunities:
PPYC members who are interested in learning to sail as crew on a racing boat are encouraged to show up between 1:00 and 1:30 p.m. We will help you find a ride.
Join us this summer for some great weekend racing!
