Info About the Webinar

Hailing all sailors!

Whether you are a novice or an old salt, a skipper or a crewmember, a race manager or simply a spectator, understanding the rules that govern our game and facilitate the orderly progression of boats around the racecourse is essential.   The Racing Rules of Sailing for 2025-2028 are coming soon, as an app in December and in print in January, free to US SAILING members.  Dave Dellenbaugh has produced a four-Monday-evening webinar beginning November 18 to explain what has changed from the 2021-2024 iteration of the RRS.  And he is offering this experience to groups at a discount if 10 or more sign up. I am happy to collect names and email addresses and funds as he outlines in his invitation below.  I will share my two cents’ worth* about the evolution of the RRS and about Dave as a teacher and about his daughter Emily, a Brown University All-American Intercollegiate Sailor, as a producer at the Quarterly Meeting Sunday October 27.  I hope you will add your name to the list then.  If you are not able to attend that meeting, please send me an email at rich4302@comcast.net and send your $30 payment by Venmo to Sherrie Richards (@rich4302) or by mail to me at 4302 Lealand Lane, Nashville, 37204 before November 1.  We should take advantage of this timely learning opportunity, noting that it is a gift that keeps on giving for four more years (of access *at a cost of two cents a day).

Smooth sailing,

Bruce Richards

Group Discount – Webinar explaining the new 2025-2028 Rulebook  (more info here)

This webinar starts on Monday, November 18, at 8 pm US Eastern and goes for the following three Mondays. We offer a group discount so clubs and fleets can get members involved in an educational off-season activity. Here’s how it works: The club or fleet finds at least 10 people who are interested in participating in the webinar (they don’t have to be actual club or fleet members). I will register everyone for the webinar.  Each person will receive all the normal registration stuff (from me and Zoom), and each will get all the exact same benefits as anyone who signs up individually, including 1) a personal link to view all the live sessions; 2) links to watch the replays of each session whenever they want (they can do this any time in the future whether or not they are able to attend the live sessions); and 3) a link to a Google doc resource where we put all the written Quizzes and Q&As. Your group could decide to watch the live webinar sessions together at the club, or people can watch the live sessions (or recorded replays) at home on their own, or both. (HIYC may host a group viewing for the last session.)

The normal price for individuals who sign up for this webinar is $55 per person before Nov. 1, or $60 on or after Nov. 1.  The group rate is $30 per person before Nov. 1, or $35 per person on or after Nov 1.
