J22s Sailing Hero

Greetings, PPYC

As we reach the halfway point of the sailing season, the Club has successfully navigated a number of challenges, including low water levels, afternoon thunderstorms, and recurring triple-digit heat index days.

Despite these conditions, we've continued to provide a wide variety of sailing opportunities. Our Windward/Leeward practice sessions have been well received, LATH attendance continues to fill each week, our Spring Regattas and Summer Luau were tremendous successes, and best of all, our membership continues to grow. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered, participated, and helped make this such a successful season.

As summer continues, many of us are balancing vacations, family plans, and weekend commitments. But don't forget to carve out a little lake time. Reach out to someone you've been meaning to sail with, organize an impromptu raft-up, or simply drop anchor for a sunset swim and picnic. The days may be hot, but these long summer evenings are what sailing season is all about. We hope to see plenty of familiar faces—and a few new ones—making memories on Percy Priest before another great season slips by.

CLUB BOAT PROGRAM

(2026 New Member Discount)

The Club Boat Program is an important part of our overall mission to advance the sailing experience of our members as they progress through our LATH, Keelboat instruction and racing programs. The Catalina 22 and J22 club boats provide an opportunity for members to advance to the next big step of sailing. Compared to charter/boat rentals, we’ve set the annual fee at a minimum rate to cover maintenance, insurance and slip rental costs.

We would like to encourage as many of our non-boat owners to take advantage of this club program. With half the season behind us, the Board has decided to offer a $150 discount to all members who join the Club Boat Program for the remainder of 2026. This is a one-time discount for new club boat members. Renewals will be billed in March 2027.

The late summer and fall are great times to sail on the lake. So, consider taking advantage of this discount and the next big step in your sailing journey by becoming a club boat member.

Club Business - Is it your turn?

It may seem like July is a little early to be thinking about next year, but we are in need of filling four very important positions for next season, including: Vice CommodoreTreasurerRace Director and Social Chairman

Please consider joining the Board and serving the club in one of these vital roles. We need your talents.  As a volunteer club, we all end up taking our turn to keep this 55 year-old sailing club going strong. Please reach out to me if you want to chat about the role and expectations of any of the positions.
