| Greetings, PPYC!
One of the most unique benefits of this great country is having the freedom to travel thousands of miles to diverse geography, temperature, and regional culture. You can experience small towns, big cities, beaches, mountains, lakes, rivers, oceans and so many natural wonders without a check point, a passport, a translator, or a currency exchange. This land is your land. This land is my land. This land is our land. Of the free and the brave. We are America.
As we celebrate this 250th independence day, a moment of reflection seems in tall order to acknowledge how blessed we Americans are to live among these amazing 50 united states. We are a country of explorers with the courage to venture into the future.
This passion to pursue new challenges and explore the world is the underlying principle of sailing. It not only takes a certain skill, it takes courage and a sense of adventure.
As Americans, each and every one of us can trace our path to a moment when a brave soul took that courageous step onto a vessel to explore a new world.
If you’re not traveling this great land or visiting with family this national holiday, consider joining our PPYC sailing community for an evening celebration of fireworks on the lake this Sunday, July 5, conditions permitting. We are cancelling tonight's event due to the heat index, but are hopeful for Sunday's big event! What better way to celebrate this patriotic moment than with a bunch of fun-loving, local sailors who embody the American spirit of freedom, courage and the pursuit of adventure. You will be glad you did.
Happy Independence Day,
Brian Dougherty
