Greetings PPYC Members,
As we head towards April, our weekly sailing opportunities ramp up into full swing. Our Tuesday Learning at the Helm (LATH) events and our Wednesday Night Racing (WNR) both start up the first week of April, lake water levels permitting. It is time to check out the Club Calendar and start registering for these weekly events. Slots fill up quickly, so don’t wait.
LATH Skippers
It is time to prep your sailboat for this season's Tuesday evening LATH program. It is a great idea to check and start your motor, review your required safety gear and equipment, including mandatory life jackets for all LATH participants. We have a great group of excited and enthusiastic new members who are ready to register and get out on the lake with you. It is shaping up to be another great LATH season for the club and all our new members.
Wednesday Night Racing Skippers
For our Wednesday Night Racing, Skippers be sure to register your boat for the season on Regatta Network. This will allow our Race Director to track and post weekly scores and race standings on our WNR Skipper WhatsApp group. While you are at it, be sure to check out and familiarize yourself with the new WNR Skipper WhatsApp group. The Race Director will post all WNR Skipper announcements and weekly score updates to that WNR Skipper-Only group chat. All WNR crew are required to complete the one-time WNR Crew waiver. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the crew waiver requirements.
Wednesday Night Racing Crew
All WNR Crew need to complete the one-time WNR Crew Waiver. This one-time waiver covers you for the entire WNR season. You can’t register or sail as WNR crew without it. Links to the Crew Waiver are posted on the PPYC website under the Wednesday Night Racing page and at the WNR Crew weekly sign-up page. You can find these links from the “Sail” dropdown and the online Calendar. If you're having trouble finding an item, be sure to log-in to the PPYC website in order to get full access to all “member” information. There also will be QR code links available for quick waiver registration.
Annual Cleanup and Volunteer Day - April 4
As we prepare for the season, our annual Cleanup and Volunteer Day will be held on April 4. Come out early and help get the powerboats and sailing gear out and ready for the season. Be sure to check out our recent facility improvements including the new outdoor patio area next to the restrooms and the new fuel storage fireproof cabinet. These two additions provide more safe and convenient locations to grill and to store our fuel tanks. As an all-volunteer club, Saturday, April 4 is our BIG DAY when all club members come together and work to get everything clean and ready for the fun of the season. Please register on the Club Calendar link. If you are Club Boat member, this is also the big day when we pull the club boats and get them ready to be checked-out and sailed by our club boat members. Your help is definitely needed to complete all of the important Club Boat tasks.
Happy Sailing!
