Save the dates for racing at Harbor Island Yacht Club: Saturday, April 12 and Saturday & Sunday April 26 & 27 for the annual OL Schulz Hospice Regattas. Over the past ten years Harbor Island Members have contributed over $100,000 to Nashville's Alive Hospice, one of the first hospice operations in the country. This money comes from competitor fees, burgee purchases and the generosity of Paul and Dana Latour as well as John and Tracy Taylor all under the leadership of the event’s founders, Gene and Cindy Lovelace.
NOR and SI’s will be in their customary place on the HIYC website, but here’s an overview:
Cruiser Regatta on Saturday, April 12 beginning with our Burgee Ceremony to start the Skippers Meeting. Bruce Richards is PRO and there will be a post-race meal offered by our longstanding supporter Houston’s followed by the Awards Ceremony.
The Open Regatta is a two day affair, April 26 and 27, with the same Burgee Ceremony and Skippers Meeting on Saturday as well as the post-race Saturday meal from Houston’s. Dinghy’s race again on Sunday followed by the Awards Ceremony. Jim Doran has volunteered to be PRO for the Open.
Also on Saturday the 26th, Robert and Jan Mattix will PRO the Fun Sail, a scavenger hunt and boat dressing popular within the Cruiser Fleet.
