The 2026 Wednesday Night Season Comes to a Close

The final WNR was all too familiar for this unusual year. The pre-race breeze gave us hope and a little excitement . . . until start time, when it all shut off. In the end, the race was abandoned when we reached the time limit. Those who stuck it out made their way back in the dark.

A special hat-tip to our race director, Sam Beckman, for navigating the longest low-water, highest heat-index, most consistently light-wind season in memory. (Does anyone know a good PTSD therapist?)

Even though the saga of this season was abandoned races, the true story is the sailors who persevered, made the best of each night and got their crew out on the lake as much as possible. We have a beautiful lake and the deck of a sailboat is the best vantage point ever created!

The days are now too short for evening racing. However, the best sailing days of the year are ahead of us. Please register your boat for an upcoming regatta. Get your crew out on a random weekend and sharpen your skills when the breeze is up. Volunteer to help run a race or social.
