The Fall Off continued our light air regatta trend. However, it proved to also be a great opportunity for several new and developing sailors to grow their sailing skills.
Seven boats competed in two distance races on Percy Priest Lake. That part is quite normal for the first Saturday in November. The thing that struck me as unique this year was the number of newer members dotted across every boat in the fleet. I will refrain from mentioning names for fear of leaving some out. But suffice it to say the winning spinnaker skipper in race R1 was not the person mentioned in the results. In fact, it was her fist time to helm the J/22 in a race and her jib and spinnaker trimmer just joined PPYC in June.
Congrats to those who placed well in the race. But beyond that, props to all those who provided these opportunities to grow the love for sail and racing on our wonderful lake.
Let's carry this trend into 2025 - Let's go sailing!
