Race Committee Training

Race committee training was held on the last weekend in April. This class brought together sailors from PPYC and HIYC. Why is this class important? Sailboat racing provides these opportunities:

   - Connects people to sailboats in a way that grabs their interest and passion.
   - Prioritizes right of way rules.
   - Builds sailing skills fast.
   - Is an activity that keeps its participants coming back for more.
   - Is a great way to build community.
   - Win, lose or draw, you always leave with an experience to remember.

Many thanks to those who led and to those who participated in this class!

To provide all those opportunities mentioned you must have people who setup and run the races. Every racing sailor and crew should spend time helping to run races. For those new to sailing or "not yet racing" there is no greater way to contribute to our sport than working on race committee. If you weren't able to make it to the training, or you thought it was for someone else, it isn't too late. Race committee has many roles you can learn on the job. That's right, jump into race committee soon by volunteering for one or more of the upcoming events.
