Here we go, March is here!  We have Two education class’s this month. The first was well attended on Race Management.  Come join Sam Beckman and I for the second class “Racing Rules for Beginners”.  This is a short class on the basics of the rules.  After this class, you should be comfortable on what to expect and do on Wednesday nights.  There will be time to sail afterwards.  I ‘d be happy to jump on your boat and go for a sail with you.

Time to dust off the tiller and sign up for our First Regatta March 25th.  Our Race director is checking the water depth on the course that he plans to send us on to make sure we have clear sailing.  This will be a fun day to see spring springing into action from the water. Please register online.

It was really nice to meet you and talk with each of you at the Commodore Meet and Greet.  What a warm welcome from all of you. Thank you and thank you for coming out.  For those that were not able to make it, Captain Hook out did himself on preparing an incredible seafood feast. Thank you Richard Lewis.

A look ahead: Mark your calendars for our Inaugural Spring Fling April 15th.  More information coming soon.

My door is always open and my phone is always on.  Please feel free to reach out to me.

Truly

David Curtze

Let's Go Sailing! Get in on these upcoming sailing events

The Force Five Regatta on March 25th has a little for everyone. We will run distance courses for a friendly competitive cruise around the lake. And there is an option for buoy races if there are enough One Design entries. So, Skippers, chase the spiders out of the cockpit. Crew, get out your deck shoes. Volunteers, launch the chase boats. LET'S GO SAILING!

Sundays at the Lake will have a kickoff event on Sunday, April 2nd. There are some creative ideas brewing about these events. Things from a casual sail to a poker run, a scavenger hunt, or a practice buoy race.

Spring Fling Regatta and Social will be on Saturday, April 15. Entry fee will be to bring food to share. Details are being developed so If you have ideas send to Racing @ppyc.org or Commodore@ppyc.org

Register of the Spring Fling Regatta and Social - 4/15/2023

If you own a keelboat, plan on doing this: Our Nashville US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 11-06 is offering to do a Safety Vessel Check on your boat for free.  Appointments are currently being offered for April/May and onward.

Why should you receive this safety check?  Peace of mind that your boat meets federal safety standards, and that in an emergency, you will have the necessary equipment to save lives and summon help.

All Hands on Deck - PPYC Volunteering

Kenny Cooper and Kurt Berger are Volunteer Beacons

Percy Priest Yacht club thrives because of the rich talent and dedication of our members who serve. It will not surprise anyone to know that we are an all-volunteer club. But what never ceases to amaze is the skills, talents and hard work of our members to help PPYC flourish. We highlight Kenny and Kurt because they modeled this when Kenny leveraged his ASA training and Kurt his extensive cruising experience to introduce our members to Coastal Navigation.

It is with gratitude that we announce that Kenny and Kurt are our inaugural Volunteer Beacons!

We would love to see how your skills, talents and efforts will help advance PPYC. If you have ideas, or just want to see how to connect, email the board and we will be happy to help you engage.
