Launch Of J-22 Club Boat,
May 6th Member Meetup,
And More...
Newsletter Header Image

The “sails” of our 2021 main season are catching some good wind. Two of our Regattas are already in the rear view mirror. Wednesday Night Racing is underway. An initial month of very well attended “virtual” Learning At The Helm (LATH) educational sessions just ended. Weekly on-the-water LATH sessions begin May 4th. ... a lot to be excited about!

Today (May 1st,) our Commodore, Galen Freeman, MC’d a celebration of the commissioning and launch of the J-22 Club Boat that has replaced the O’Day 23. Several members remained to rig the boat, launch it and get it to its slip. Acquisition of the J-22 rather than a boat more like the Catalina 22 will present opportunities for members of the Club Boat Program to enhance their sailing skills and explore new ways to enjoy sailing. See pictures below.

Our first First Thursday Member Meet-Up begins at 6:00pm May 6th at Papa Turney’s. Because of space limitations, reservations are required. See that item in the Upcoming Events on the left side of our Home Page for details and to register. We hope these Meetups will turn out to be great times for members to visit with each other, and also to interact with our Board members who will be among the regular attendees — no agenda, just mixing with fellow sailing enthusiasts.

Quick updates on some previously report items:
  • Activity in the new Skipper/Crew Matchup capability we launched last year continues to picked up, probably as a result of the accelerating pace of events in which these matchups might be of interest. If this interests you, check it out by clicking Sail in our main menu and selecting Crew:Needed/Available in the list that appears.
  • The Boat Owners’ Section we launched earlier this year is continuing to take shape. If you’re a member who owns a boat, there are significant benefits you could derive from being involved in this section on our web site. It’s ultimate value will depend on the level of member involvement, so check it out and consider being a part of its “evolution.” Access to the section’s Home Page is available to members through the Member Resources menu, or now through this link: Boat Owners’ Section.
Go do some sailing -- and greet each other on the water when you’re out!
