Club Boat Program Changes
AHOY SAILORS !!!

LET’S GO SAILING .
..

SOME GREAT NEWS ABOUT OUR CLUB BOAT PROGRAM

FULLY OPEN ...

As members of this program know from previous communications, we were finally able to open the Club Boat Program on March 27th, a bit later than usual because of a very slow rise from Winter Pool to Summer Pool this year, and even then within a limited sailing area required for safety reasons. After the recent extremely high water levels prevented walkway access to the dock area for 11 days, we reopened the reservation system on April 8th. This week we received assurance from the USACOE that they do not intend to lower the level below Summer Pool before the Fall. So the status remains as announced on April 8 when access to the docks was restored — fully open with no area restrictions.

HERE’S MORE GOOD NEWS ...

We are sending this email to our full distribution list rather than just to members of the Club Boat Program because what we’re announcing here may actually be of interest to others, whether current PPYC members or just folks interested in sailing who read our newsletters and other emails.

ON SATURDAY, MAY 1st, we will launch PPYC’s newest addition to the Club Boat fleet ... a J/22 ... fully equipped with all the controls and sails allowed by the International J/22 Class Association.

Numerous Yacht Clubs and Universities around the world have chosen the J/22 as their equipment choice for their keelboat training programs. The addition of this nimble, yet forgiving boat will also kick off our newest training program: Advanced Sailing Skills. This addition to the popular Tuesday night Learning At The Helm program (basic sailing classes) will allow a “step forward” for sailors who wish to expand their knowledge of just what it takes to get the most out of their boats and further enjoy this great sport of ours.

We look forward to seeing you at Hamilton Creek Sailboat Marina on May 1st beginning at 11:00AM.

Commodore
